CSAB and CSCB Training Opportunities – February and March 2018

Details below of upcoming training from the Calderdale Safeguarding Adult & Children’s Boards.


  • Fri 2nd: The Role and Responsibilities of the Designated Safeguarding Lead 9:30 to 16:00 (Princess Buildings) – aimed at organisations other than schools
  • Fri 9th: Briefing Domestic Abuse and Impact on Children and Young People 9:30 to 11:30 (Women Centre) – please make sure you have existing knowledge of Domestic Abuse issues before booking onto briefings, click the link for more details
  • Fri 9th: Multi-Agency Reflective Practice Session – Led by Adult Services – NEW! – Together Housing will present a case featuring: An older woman with care and support needs, seeking re housing for reasons of domestic abuse/violence.  She is an adult, being cared for by her husband – perpetrator of the abuse. The presentation will give an insight into:
    • Safeguarding from a Housing providers perspective
    • Highlight the role that front line housing staff have to play in recognising abuse and raising alerts
    • The challenges around perceptions of Domestic Abuse – raising awareness, knowledge and understanding that domestic abuse is safeguarding abuse
  • Tues 13th: What’s New? Essential Knowledge Briefing 9:30 to 12:30 (Princess Buildings) – Topics will include: The impact of Universal Credits; Update on Mental Health transformation in Calderdale; Life Stories; Alcohol Brief Interventions
  • Thurs 15th: Train the Trainer: Basic Safeguarding 9:30 to 16:00 (Pugney Centre, Wakefield)
  • Tues 27th: Practitioners Tools and Good Practice Workshops 9:30 to 11:30 (Princess Buildings) – This is an opportunity to consider how tools produced by the CSCB can benefit practice
  • Tues 27th: Briefing Recognising Coercive Control 9:30 to 11:30 (Women Centre) please make sure you have existing knowledge of Domestic Abuse issues before booking onto briefings – please click on the link for more details
  • Weds 28th: Three Year Safeguarding Refresher 9:30 to 13:00 (CCG Offices, Dean Clough)
