Emergency flood relief funds for sports groups

Sport England, the Football Foundation and Yorkshire Cricket Board have announced flood relief funds.

 

Sport England flood relief fund

Sport England’s flood relief fund is open for applications. “Clubs and community-based sports organisations needing funding to clean up and get up and running quickly can request up to £5,000 of emergency funding which could be awarded very quickly. How to apply.

“The new £400,000 fund has been created specifically to help with the damage of the exceptional weather caused by the recent unprecedented rainfall, and is in addition to Sport England’s other grant programmes which will continue to operate as normal.

The fund will remain open until 1 February 2016 (they will keep this date under review) to ensure that those who are currently unable to assess the damage will not lose out.

“If your facility has been affected, we would also encourage you to review our factsheets on how to help your facility recover quickly and safely after a flood.”

 

Football Foundation

Funding is available from the Football Foundation for grassroots football, and clubs across all levels of The FA National League System (Step 1 to Step 7) that require assistance to make facilities safe and fit for purpose following damage by the recent storms, to allow football to continue.

Grants are available for clubs in a number of regions including West Riding FA.  Organisations should contact their County FA for more information about how to access this emergency relief funding.

Yorkshire Cricket Board

Yorkshire Cricket Board’s Emergency Fund is open for applications.

“Clubs’, in the first instance, should send the following information to the Yorkshire Cricket Board, who will set-up a case file and will arrange the process of emergency funding.

“Key contact info – name, email, mobile number and correspondence address.

“Details of damage:

  • What is insured (and has this been assessed)
  • What is uninsured
  • What is immediately resolvable
  • What may be longer term (such as damage to playing surfaces)
  • Cost estimates where available
  • Photographs where available

The England and Wales Cricket Board has also produced guidance on dealing with flooding.
