Dementia Friendly Day

The Dementia Friendly Day in Sowerby Bridge will have speakers, stalls, and activities to raise awareness of dementia and the support available locally.

Refreshments and light lunches on sale.

Speakers:

  • 10:00am – Opening event at St Paul’s: Church Mayor of Calderdale
  • 10:15am – Singing for the Brain: Ann Likeman, Alzheimer’s Society
  • 10:45am – Move for Fun: Sue Watson
  • 11:15am – Dementia Friends Session: Jayne O’Connell, Calderdale Dementia Action Alliance
  • 12:15pm – The Work of the Staying Well Team: Tricia Astwood and Helen Doodson Staying Well Team
  • 12:45pm – Prevention of Delirium: Caroline Sellers, Prevention of Delirium Team
  • 1:15pm – ‘Experience dementia for twenty minutes’: Jean Westacott
  • 2:00pm – Close

Apart from the speakers mentioned above, there are tables available for organisations who would like to publicise their services. Please contact June Harvey on 07920 549131 if you would like a table reserved.

St. Bartholomew’s Church in Ripponden are also hosting an event for the Dementia Friendly Day: 11am-2:30pm with stalls, fun activities and speakers.
