SITA Trust has announced that there will be two further funding rounds for applications to its Landfill Communities Fund. The Trust currently offers two programmes – the Primary Fund and the Smaller Projects Fund:
- The Primary Fund provides grants of up to £50,000 to not-for-profit organisations whose significant community leisure amenity improvement project has an overall cost of no more than £250,000. Projects must start within six months and complete within 12 months of funds being awarded.
- The Smaller Projects Fund offers grants of up to £20,000 towards smaller projects with an overall cost of less than £40,000. This fund will support applicants requesting capital funding for smaller projects that take a matter of weeks or months to complete. No compliant project is considered too small and there is no minimum funding amount.
Voluntary organisations, charities, parish councils, local authorities, community groups and environmental organisations are eligible to apply. Projects must:
- Be located within a three miles radius of a qualifying SITA UK waste processing location.
- Have unrestricted public access for a minimum of 104 days per year; that is no less than four evenings, two days each week, or 12 full weeks each year.
The Trust provides a postcode checker so that groups can check the eligibility of the project’s location. Before the Trust can release funding for a project, it needs to receive a payment called the Contributing Third Party Payment, which will be 11.5% of the overall grant.
