Active Calderdale Design Council recruitment

Active Calderdale is entering an exciting phase of the Sport England Local Delivery Pilot (LDP), this includes working with the Design Council to deliver an intensive learning experience to train and develop 50 local people to become Design Thinkers, that are familiar with one or more of the 12 priority themes for the design thinking work.

They are looking to recruit 50 Design Thinkers and 12 Design Sponsors for this element of the pilot, and information on each role is below and the attached briefing sheets provide more information on the process, schedule and requirements.

DESIGN THINKERS

A Design Thinker will:

  • Be curious: open minded and inquisitive
  • Be collaborative: a team player that is energise by working with others
  • Be disruptive: likes to challenge the status quo, sees things from a different perspective
  • Be passionate: a strong commitment to what they do and for making things better
  • Be insightful: a deep understanding of people and situations.
  • Be available to take part in all the scheduled training commencing with the masterclass on the 3rd September

If you are interested in becoming a Design Thinker, please respond with your expression of interest covering the following points:

  1. Which subject are you interested in being the Design Thinker for and what is your connection to that area?
  2. In brief, what do you want to achieve from taking part being a Design Thinker.
  3. What do you think you are able to contribute to the Active Calderdale project in your chosen area?
  4. Are you available and committed to attending on all of the required dates for either cohort 1 or cohort 2?
  5. Do you agree to us keeping your contact details so that we can keep you updated on the projects progress and invite your input along the way?

DESIGN SPONSOR

To support the Design Thinkers, they are also looking to identify Design Sponsors who will assist in making this element of the pilot a success.

Sponsors are required for the following themes:

  • Over 50s
  • All 5 Geographical areas
    • Upper: Calder, Luddenden, Todmorden
    • Lower: Brighouse, Hipperholme & Lightfliffe, Rastrick, Northowram & Shelf
    • South: Elland, Greetland & Stainland, Ryburn, Sowerby Bridge
    • North: Illingworth & Mixenden, Ovenden, Warley
    • Central: Park, Skircoat, Town

Design Sponsors will:

  • Encourage and enthuse the Design Thinkers to engage with their desired audience and come up with opportunities and ideas that meet their needs
  • Enable the opportunities and ideas to be tested and scaled up where appropriate
  • Tackle blockages in the system that prevent opportunities being taken forward and good ideas from being tested and developed
  • Be able to influence the other sponsors and wider sectors to enable cross cutting ideas to be tested and developed
  • Drive the Active Calderdale Board to shape and effectively deliver the Local Delivery Pilot
  • Be available to take part in the masterclass on the 3rd September
