The Calderdale Access Fund has now launched. Community Foundation for Calderdale are looking for applicants to deliver a project over a three year period, focusing on 3 priorities:
- Developing partnerships and networks;
- The provision/delivery of projects providing access to information, advice and guidance and raising awareness. This could include for example a key project like a “Calderdale Access Map Project”; which would showcase accessible venues and access friendly parts of Calderdale;
- To provide access audits for community groups, social enterprises and community businesses; these audits to look at physical but also non-physical barriers.
“Access” is defined in a wider sense than just physical accessibility. It is not just physical barriers that prevent full participation but also access in terms of information, advice and guidance. The fund seeks to support projects which tackle these barriers faced by many people including those with long-term health conditions, learning disabilities, mental health needs, physical disabilities and others.
Part of this project will be to undertake “access audits”, and following these they will then fund improvements via a small grants scheme which will be launched later.
