Calderdale has long been an innovator around local food from Incredible Edible born in Todmorden, to the Council and Clinical Commissioning Group’s commitment to funding programmes that embed a whole system approach to food.
The organisations in the Borough are now working towards an integrated approach to this work in forming the Calderdale Food Network and joining Sustainable Food Cities.
The Food Network incorporates community food anchors, from the Incredible Aquagarden to Love Bread, third sector organisations such as Halifax Opportunities Trust and Food for Life Calderdale, and statutory partners, including Calderdale Council’s markets team, public health team, and local Councillors.
The Network has recently secured funding for a Coordinator from Sustainable Cities and the Community Foundation for Calderdale. The post will be employed by Halifax Opportunities Trust on behalf of the Network and we also welcome applications from freelancers who wish to work on a contractual basis.
You will need:
- Experience of coordinating/delivering projects in food and/or health
- Understanding/awareness of national issues impacting on healthy and sustainable food
- Knowledge and experience of workings of the community sector
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups
There are opportunities for ongoing professional development and further training. This post is subject to satisfactory references.
