Earlier this week, Halifax Opportunities Trust shared details of their new partnership work with Himmat and St. Augustine’s Centre to ensure that the most vulnerable members of their local community are cared for during the COVID-19 pandemic. You can read the full joint statement here.
Since releasing the statement, their teams have been working tirelessly to set-up a food parcel delivery service for Central Halifax; providing free daily food parcel deliveries to:
- People and families who are vulnerable and isolated and cannot get out for provisions.
- People and families on a low income who are struggling to buy food.
Demand for these parcels is very high at the moment and they are anticipating it may increase in the coming weeks. As such, they have set-up a Go Fund Me campaign and are seeking donations to help teams purchase items required by the families and individuals in receipt of food parcels.
By donating to this fund, you are helping their teams purchase provisions for those most in need during this crisis. They have been overwhelmed with offers of help and support and feel this is one small way we can all do a bit to support our community at this difficult time.
