Energy Redress Fund

Charities that support vulnerable energy consumers or have innovative ideas that will benefit energy customers are being invited to apply for shares of £13m of funding.

The money comes from the latest round of the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme, which is managed by the Energy Saving Trust and distributes funds from energy companies that have breached rules.

The bulk of the funding is being distributed as part of the scheme’s new COVID-19 Crisis Fund, which will allocate up to £10m of funding towards crisis interventions for households that are unable to top up their pre-payment energy meters.

Grants of between £20,000 and £300,000 are available under this part of the scheme.

The remaining funds are split into three streams offering grants of various sizes, including the Innovation Fund, which will offer grants of up to £450,000 for new products or services that benefit energy consumers.

Only charities that are registered with the Energy Redress Scheme and are based in England, Scotland or Wales, and housing associations that are exempted charities and have passed the due diligence process are eligible for funding.

Charities must register for the Energy Redress Scheme two weeks before the deadline in order to be eligible.
