Calderdale Citizens Advice has two free events to celebrate the launch of a new Gambling Support Service funded by Gambleaware.

Breakfast briefing

Free breakfast briefing to find out more about gambling, gambling-related harm, how gambling can affect people and the types of support and treatment available to affected individuals.

Time: 8:30am to 10:00am

  • 8:30am – 8:40am: Opening remarks – Caroline Jones, CEO, Calderdale Citizens Advice
  • 8:40am – 9:00am: What is gambling-related harm? – Dr. Stephanie Bramley, Gambling Support Service Trainer, Calderdale Citizens Advice
  • 9:00am – 9:20am: ‘Inside the mind of a problem gambler’ – Sam (recovering compulsive gambler)
  • 9:20am – 9:40am: Why is gambling-related harm a public health issue? – Caron Walker – Assistant Director for Public Health, Calderdale Council
  • 9:40am – 10am: Helping those affected by gambling – Lynsey Judson – GamCare and Krysallis Counsellor

Free training about gambling-related harm

Citizens Advice Calderdale is running a free two hour training session about gambling-related harm.

Time: 10:30am – 12:30pm

You are invited to attend a free two hour training session to improve your knowledge and ability to:

  • Describe the impact of gambling in our communities
  • Identify signs of gambling related harm
  • Understand how gambling may affect people
  • Know how to screen clients for gambling-related harm
  • Provide information and advice about gambling related harm
  • Know which specialist services to refer clients to for help
