Lamplighter Festival

November 28, 2015

6pm Lantern Parade
7-9pm Street Festival

Handmade Parade’s Lamplighter Festival returns to Todmorden with more lanterns, more street bands, more fire performers and more installations than ever!

It’s a very busy day for Todmorden so please do your best to use public transportation or carpool and/or come early! Car parks are here. Please note they close Lever St and Union St South car parks for performances and street food.

If you’re watching the parade:
The high street gets full. Best place to see the parade is up rise lane or by the rail station. Be sure to follow to Pollination Street to see the festival launch with a speech by the Mayor, lighting of Walk the Plank’s fire sculpture and Drum Machine.

Some of the audience last year did not realise that the street festival is in 2 sites: Pollination Street and Lever Street car park (across the road, by the canal). Be sure to check out both areas!

They are still looking for volunteers to help:

  • Help carry/push some of the giant lanterns: wear black or dark clothes and come to parade line-up at 5pm. Email andrew@handmadeparade.co.uk and tell him you’re in.
  • Help set up and/or take down artwork – all day Saturday. Dress for the weather, bring a head torch and something to cut cable ties. Email volunteer@handmadeparade.co.uk and tell Sue that your coming.

Help collect donations and audience survey information – critical to keep producing events like this! Email kay@handmadeparade.co.uk and tell her you’ll help.
