Over The Rainbow, the Age UK Todmorden social group for older lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, is working with Todmorden library to bring films to the LGBT community.
The group will be showing Love Is Strange directed by Ira Sachs and starring John Lithgow and Alfred Molina. Ben (Molina) is an artist and George (Lithgow) a music teacher in a catholic school. Love Is Strange follows the couple who are newly married after 39 years together. Their marriage celebrations are soon dampened as their union sparks a chain reaction for George’s employment and they are forced to deal with the consequences as their home life and future is changed overnight.
The film is a realistic romantic and heart warming portrayal of the fragility of living as an ageing gay couple and covers love, life and relationships with family, friends and one another. A lovely, life affirming film for anyone who can identify with the desire to love and live well. The film will start at 1pm and tickets are available from Todmorden library.
This screening is in collaboration with Todmorden Library and Calderdale MBC library service and is supported by Community Foundation for Calderdale. Regular films are just one of the many activities in the Over the Rainbow programme.
