This free event provides an opportunity to gain valuable mental health awareness, using examples from within and outside the sports sector. It will provide you with the knowledge to help your organisation work with young people who have mental health conditions.
Lunch is provided and gives the opportunity to network with our speakers and others working in sport.
Keynote – Mark Wisbey, Creative Minds
Creative Minds is all about the use of creative approaches and activities in healthcare; increasing self-esteem, providing a sense of purpose, developing social skills, helping community integration and improving quality of life. Mark will share his story of how Creative Minds helped to improve his own well-being and how he’s now using his skills in communities across Yorkshire.
Workshop A: Jess Cotton – Young Minds
Young Minds is the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the wellbeing and mental health of children and young people.
This session will look at what you can do to promote positive mental health.
Workshop B: Touchstone
Touchstone provides a range of innovative services that improve health and wellbeing.
This workshop will look at collaborative working with mental health services.
Workshop C: Move More for Mental Health
The Move More Mental Health group is a Sheffield City-wide collaboration. The group is a mix of professionals and volunteers from Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS FT (the provider of specialist mental health services in Sheffield) and the National Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine.
The workshop will describe the journey in promoting physical activity in those with enduring mental health problems and creating links and pathways for people to access.
Delegates will have the opportunity to attend two of the three workshops. You will be asked to select your preferences when booking your place and priority will be given on a first come, first served basis.
