Excellence in School Food Awards

APSE are delighted to announce that the All Party Parliamentary Group Excellence in School Food Awards 2019/2020 are open for entries! The Awards recognise excellence in innovation, individual commitment and provide an opportunity for those working within school food a chance to step forward and shine. The three categories for this year’s awards include:

  1. Schools – Either an in-house catering team, head teacher, teacher(s) or support staff – who have come up with a creative initiative to serve healthy food to children within the school setting.
  2. Groups – An organisation, charity or catering team who have used the initiative to serve healthy food to children; an organisation, charity or catering team who have been able to work together to achieve positive outcomes on local communities and children.
  3. Individuals – An individual who has shown individual commitment; someone whose ideas and innovation have changed things for the better; someone who has had a significant impact on local communities and children.

The judges will be looking for clear evidence that your submission meets the criteria set out in this guidance and reflects the provision of an excellent service. Application forms, together with a cover letter to your MP and a template MP letter, can be downloaded here. A fillable application form (.pdf) is also attached.

Submissions close at 3pm on Wednesday 4 December 2019 and must follow the submission template and be accompanied by a letter from an MP. When complete (within the 500 word limit) all forms must be emailed to vhacking@apse.org.uk. An email receipt for your entry will be sent, if you do not receive a formal receipt by email within two working days, please contact Vickie Hacking at APSE on 0161 772 1810. The winners will be presented at the APSE Facilities, Catering and Cleaning Management seminar on 30 January 2020 at The Nottingham Belfry Hotel.
