Communities across England can bid for a share of £500,000 funding to celebrate the contribution of the Windrush Generation and their descendants to the nation’s social, economic, political and religious life.
The Windrush Day Grant scheme is provided by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) and administered by the Church Urban Fund.
Windrush Day (22 June) was established to celebrate the large contribution of the Windrush Generation to Britain’s cultural, social and economic. The now annual grant scheme is intended to support celebrations in England that recognise the arrival of MV Empire Windrush at Port Tilbury on 21 July 1948 with 492 Caribbean migrants and the contribution of the migrants who later became known as the Windrush Generation.
Grants of between £2,500 and £25,000 to local councils, charities and community groups that seek to host events for Windrush Day 2020.
