Would you like to meet new people, help to make a difference to children’s lives and give something back? Mothershare are looking for passionate volunteers to join their Board of Trustees.
Mothershare, formed in 2015, is a successful Charity based in Ovenden, Halifax whose objectives are to prevent and relieve poverty in the borough. They do this by providing essential items to families and children from pre-birth to late teens through referrals from a wide range of statutory agencies (including social care & police), health (midwives & health visitors) and other local charities who support vulnerable people.
Mothershare have an established Board of Trustees and are looking to enhance the team and increase capacity through recruiting an additional two Trustees. They would particularly welcome applicants who have previous experience of charities; networking and community engagement; business planning and also those with a Legal or HR background. The most important thing is a willingness to be hands-on – they are a small Charity and Trustees play a vital role in engaging with the community, fundraising and providing an extra pair of hands when required.
This is what the agencies we work with and the people we help say about them:
‘You guys had thought of everything. I have been so low and stressed… it was like someone had put their arms around me… I had my little boy last Friday and we are both doing really well. I found a card in the bag and what you wrote inside pulled me through one of my darkest and loneliest days’.
‘xxx was over the moon with the things you took to her. We really struggle to get her to engage… Thanks for being so understanding, discreet and professional. You’ve had a huge impact on this family’s wellbeing, your service is an amazing resource for our community.’
‘Thank you for helping xxx last week, I’ve seen her today and the difference is unbelievable. She is like a different person. The children’s clothes and pram gave her the confidence to go out again knowing the children looked ok and warm.’
‘You helped me after I was badly beaten up by my ex-partner. I was staying with a friend on her sofa with my baby. I had nothing with me no pram, no clothes, no nappies absolutely nothing… I just wanted to tell you I will be forever grateful… you treated me with so much kindness and respect. I’m doing well now… words just aren’t enough.’
‘I just wanted to say a massive, massive thank you for all your help! We wouldn’t be able to keep children safe without organisations like yourselves. Should be so proud of what you do.’
