We are in the process of developing a project to submit for a grant application. The overall aim of the project is to improve services for people who self-harm and we want to find out if helping people to manage their self-harm using self-compassion and wound care will reduce the tendency to self-harm.
We would like to speak to people who self-harm to understand their experiences and to see if an intervention focusing on self-compassion and wound care would support them to self-manage.
Our focus is self-harm through cutting but we would like to speak to any service user who currently or previously self-harms, not necessarily only through cutting.
If possible, we would also like to speak to some staff who may treat people who self-harm to obtain their views about how this type of intervention might be delivered in practice.
We have already undertaken some PPI activities with service users and staff who supported and informed the research idea but we would like to obtain some more service user input.
Please feel free to contact me if you need anymore information.
