Small community/grassroots groups are being invited to enter an award scheme and can now apply for grants amounting to £500. Charities are not eligible and groups must have an annual net profit of less than £10,000.
Through the programme, 165 community and voluntary groups around the country can win an award of £500 to help them with their community work. The idea behind Grassroots Giving campaign is to help community organisations, or groups, who only have access to limited funding from elsewhere. The programme is also able to fund projects within schools but this needs to be in addition to its statutory services.
Following the application closing date, a shortlist of organisations will be compiled and listed on the Grassroots Giving website. The public will then be free to vote for their favourite organisation.
Applications are now open and can be made online at www.skiptongrg.co.uk.
