Northpoint Wellbeing are recruiting 8 x Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) to work as part of Calderdale’s exciting new Mental Health Support Team.
In line with the government’s priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, the new Education Mental Health Practitioner role is an opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors.
Successful candidates will be employed on a full time basis for 12 months while training at Northumbria University (Newcastle) for approximately 2 days per week. While training they will work on placements in education settings in Calderdale as part of the Mental Health Support Team, with guaranteed employment in Calderdale on successful completion of the training.
Applicants will need to demonstrate a proven ability to study at degree level or equivalent (Level 6) and should have the willingness and ability to complete further studies at Level 7. They should also be willing and able to attend training in Newcastle for at least 2 days per week (travel costs and other support provided). Distance learning is in place during Covid).
Children & young people have told us they want to be supported by staff who can identify with them, who have empathetic skills, who listen, and who involve them in decisions. Young people also feel the mental health workforce should be representative of the population of Calderdale in terms of ethnicity, gender, disability, sexuality, and lived experience (i.e. service users or member of a vulnerable group).
